Madam, - I refer to the piece in last Thursday's property section about Greystones' "victory" as one of the world's most liveable communities at an awards ceremony in China sponsored by the local Chinese city.

Greystones is indeed a wonderful place to live - something which the councillors and official who travelled all the way to China to receive the recent award, are poised to ruin by their support for the proposed destruction of the harbour landscape.

Perhaps the real reason Greystones was awarded this accolade by judges who apparently never visited the town was that the hosts in China recognised kindred spirits among the Greystones politicians who completely ignore the will of the majority of local people when it comes to planning major developments such as the marina in the town.

In short, this was nothing more than a junket and the type of public sector waste we need to eliminate. - Yours, etc,
