Madam, – To which office in the Dáil and to which media executive does John O’Donoghue now go to get back his good reputation and to remove the character assassination that has taken place?
Shame on Sinn Féin, the Labour Party and Fine Gael and practically every element of the Irish media. – Yours, etc,
Madam, – Having read Mr O’Donoghue’s resignation speech, I was struck by the omission of any explanation regarding his use of the government jet to fly both he and his wife from Cannes to Farranfore for the urgent constituency meeting which preceded their onward trips to the Heineken Cup final and beyond.
Surely the taxpayers of Ireland are entitled to know what urgent constituency matters were considered at this meeting for it to justify one of Mr O’Donoghue’s rare flights on the government jet in his capacity as our minister for arts, sport and tourism?
In order to mitigate ongoing public outrage, I had expected that the vital matters which necessitated his attendance (and this significant expenditure from the public purse) would be made clear well before now, perhaps in the form of the minutes and actions agreed at this vital constituency meeting?
No doubt Mr O’Donoghue can enlighten the public with a rationale at least as good as that provided by the Attorney General for the use of a State car to transport his dog to his Kerry holiday home during the summer? –Yours, etc,
