Sir, - I refer to the comments of the Bishop of Meath, Dr Michael Smith, concerning those not of his faith who for "convenience" utilised "Catholic" schools.
Unless I am mistaken, the majority of funding for these "Catholic" schools comes from State funds and thus all citizens should be entitled to avail of the benefits of this spending.
It would be preferable for State-funded schools to be totally non-denominational and convenient for all students and for churches to keep religion for those who choose it. - Yours, etc.,
