Madam, – It worries me greatly that our Government suddenly feels it must legislate against the archaic offence of blasphemous libel (Page 1, April 29th).

While blasphemy is still prohibited by the Constitution, surely the better course of action would be to update the article, rather than putting in place harsh punishments for something that should no longer be considered a crime?

One person’s blasphemy is another person’s political cartoon or theory of evolution and in a modern, enlightened society we should be able to deal with all such matters without fear of legal implications. – Yours, etc,
