Sir, - I respect and congratulate the Reverend David Kerr, as he takes over as President of the Methodist Church in Ireland. He once ministered in Limerick city and was a neighbour. However, as a fellow-Christian, I find myself totally at variance with his views on abortion which he accepts "in certain medical cases". (Irish Times June 9th).
In my view, the basic human right of the foetus is the right to life, no matter what "the circumstances". The innocent unborn child can never be looked on as an unjust aggressor. The killing of an unborn child is a violation of the fifth Commandment: "Thou shalt not kill. - Yours, etc., Dominic Johnson OSB.
