Sir, - "And a stranger shalt thou not wrong, neither shalt thou oppress him; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt." - Exodus 22, 20-22.
In Irish terms, this reads: You shall not wrong an immigrant, nor oppress him/her; for we were emigrants to England, America, Australia and elsewhere.
There is more: "The stranger that sojourneth with you shall be as the home-born among you and thou shalt love him as thy self." - Leviticus 19, 34. - Yours, etc.
