Sir, - I am 16. In our latest religion class I was terrified by the number of racist views expressed - stories about foreign doctors who were incapable of their jobs, and other stories about refugees. People were taking one bad example and branding all refugees and foreigners as the same.
In a vote at the end of the class the majority were against any refugees coming in the country. Only two out of a class of about 30 were for refugees coming in. We are a very racist country as the majority of children develop their parents' opinions.
I know that 40 is probably too many refugees for a small village, but look at our own Travellers who are treated very badly. This shows that the majority of us are very narrow-minded. - Yours, etc.,
