Sir, – The most used and abused word to be heard over the airwaves is “absolutely”.
This PR-promoted word prefaces every response to an interviewer’s question and is mostly used as a time-stopper to figure out what the speaker is going to say next. It’s then used again dozens of times by radio and television presenters throughout the course of the day in various situations. Imagine if the word were banned, what difficulty it would pose for our politicians and representatives. How would they then answer and sound convincing and articulate?
Then, having said all of the above, can I say that the fact of the matter is, to be quite honest, that the bottom line is that we have all been there and done that, so it’s not rocket science, absolutely not, and by going forward, we will have to see if the jury is still out on this one. Absolutely. – Yours, etc,
