Sir, – After reading Alison Healy’s very funny Irishwoman’s Diary (July 28th) on “mondegreens”, I was reminded of one related to me by my mother, a now retired primary school teacher. After reciting The Lord is My Shepherd to her class for transcription she checked some of the work to find the line “You are there with your coat and your scarf, with these you give me comfort.”
Possibly more comfort than the crook and the staff in the psalm! – Yours, etc,
