A chara, - Looking forward to the Euro? We have just received a leaflet with this title, and my reply to the statement is: No, I'm not!
In these days of moving onward towards a bland and uniform Europe and world, I would rather see tradition continue. I am sure there is no immediate hope of turning back, but when so many people are wanting to hold onto or return to their own culture and heritage, perhaps there is always hope. Now, maybe Ireland could ignore "cents" printed on the coins and continue to use the term penny or pence.
Confusing, some may say, but no more then the unnecessary change almost upon us. Who is set to gain from the Euro? No, not the individual or even the holidaymaker, but big business and the international companies! - Is mise, Howard Marshall,
