A black day?

Sir, – I cycled to work last Friday morning down Camden Street in Dublin

Sir, – I cycled to work last Friday morning down Camden Street in Dublin. This is usually a pleasant enough experience, wheeling downhill in the cycle lane. however was a different story. Courtesy of the “Arthur’s Day” celebrations, the road was covered in glass shards, broken bottles and liquid deposits that did not invite close inspection.

My modest proposal is that this event be renamed Guinness Day: Glass Underfoot, Incontinent Noisy Neighbours, Emetic Sloppy Students.

Please could Alex White continue to promptly implement the recommendations of the National Substance Misuse Strategy on Alcohol, as started by his much-missed colleague Róisín Shorthall. – Yours, etc,
