Sir, – As the Six Nations rugby kicks off this weekend, I am expecting the usual influx of pseudo rugby experts into most pubs.
These wax jacketed seasonal rugger buggers, by and large, have never played the game.
Most of them didn’t attend the elite schools where rugby is played by the pupils.
They will have all the terminology but none of the knowledge.

They believe that by their support, they will gain a certain masculinity that soccer and Gaelic games doesn’t provide.
I hope Ireland has a successful season.
I know very little about the rules but I won’t be sitting in a pub during the games listening to these wannabe flankers. – Yours, etc,
