An article in last Monday’s edition reported that Kieran Dowling, joint head of the British-Irish secretariat, attended a march and rally in commemoration of Bloody Sunday. In fact the event that Mr Dowling attended was the commemoration service at the Bloody Sunday monument in Rossville Street. He laid a wreath at the monument on behalf of the Government following wreath-laying by the relatives.

Another article in Monday’s edition, concerning a ceremony to commemorate the Holocaust, said that between 4,500 and 5,000 Jews arrived in Ireland immediately after the second World War. In fact there was no large influx of Jews then. The figures relate to the Jewish population of Ireland in 1945 compared with an estimated 1,100 today.
