An article in yesterday’s edition, concerning the tax liability of pensioners, stated that people with a State pension do not have to pay tax on additional income of less than €18,000 if single and €36,000 if married. These exemption figures relate to total income, not additional income.

The obituary of the late Alex Spain, published in last Saturday’s edition, misnamed his wife Maureen.
