The Irish Times wishes to point out that advertisements which appeared on Friday, 6th July, and Friday, 13th July, on behalf of Benson & Associates looking for solicitors may have contravened the Employment Equality Act, 1998, on the age ground. Both The Irish Times and Benson & Associates acknowledge the importance of the Employment Equality Act and its provisions and are committed to respect fully its provisions and will take steps to ensure compliance in future.

The letter from John Colgan headed "Fluoridation of Water" in yesterday's editions described him as chairman of the Consumers' Association of Ireland. He is in fact a former chairman and now a council member. Mr Michael Kilcoyne is the current chairman. The error occurred in the editing process.

Where errors occur, it is the policy of The Irish Times to correct or clarify as soon as practicable.
