A crew of firefighters was taken to hospital last night after a gang of youths attacked them with stones in north Dublin.
The five men from Phibsborough Fire Station were fighting a blaze at a building site when a group of teenagers attacked them at about 9 p.m.
They drove in the fire engine to the Mater Hospital where three of them were treated and later released.
A spokesman for Dublin Fire Brigade said one of the men may have suffered a broken arm.
"Unfortunately incidents like this are all too common," the spokesman said. "Quite often stones will be thrown at a fire engine.
"But last night was particularly bad. This was a nasty one. A variety of stones were thrown."
He said children or teenagers were believed to be responsible for the attack.
