A 17-year-old youth was given seven years detention and disqualified from driving for 20 years by the Circuit Criminal Court in Dublin for the manslaughter of two people while driving a stolen car.

A second youth, also 17, was given a three-year sentence and disqualified from driving for ten years for allowing himself to be a passenger in a stolen car.

In January, the two youths stole a car and drove it through Dublin in the early hours of the morning. The two youths rammed three garda cars and crashed into a taxi after breaking a red light.

The taxi driver and a passenger in the stolen car were killed.
