Women's Aid has criticised the Government for "its lack of action" following the UN Conference on Women in Beijing last year.
Ms Roisin McDermott, chairwoman of the group, pointed out that "14 women, to date, have died this year (in Ireland)" as a result of violence. It called on the Government to explain what progress is being made on the national "plan of action" it agreed to in Beijing and which was to be devised by the end of this year.
