A judge is to decide whether a degree course offered by a private college was misrepresented to a former student who has sued for a fees refund.

Ms Margie Murphy is seeking £300 from Saor Ollscoil na hEireann (Free University of Ireland), Prussia Street, Dublin, claiming the BA degree course in folklore she took was "a bit wishy-washy" and did not even have a book-list.

But college registrar Ms Mairead Ni Chiosoig claimed students who completed courses had been accepted to do postgraduate degrees in UCD and TCD on the basis of their work at Saor Ollscoil.

Judge Mary Collins at the Small Claims Court adjourned the case to October 11th.
