A MURDER trial that was due to get under way in Galway last week, has now been transferred to Dublin on the direction of a judge, after the murder accused jumped bail and absconded to Wales on the eve of the trial.

Una Black, from Galway city, who failed to turn up for her trial for murder, was arrested and taken into custody as she got off a ferry in Rosslare yesterday .

She was brought directly before the High Court in Dublin where she was remanded in custody, to appear before Mr Justice Paul Carney at the Central Criminal Court, sitting in Dublin on Monday.

The murder trial which was due to get take place in Galway last week, has now been transferred to Dublin.

Ms Black (26), Droim Chaoin, Bishop O'Donnell Road, Galway, and formerly of Walter Macken Flats, Mervue, Galway, is charged with the murder of John Malone (42), contrary to common law, at Walter Macken Flats, Mervue, Galway, on December 3rd last year.

The murder trial had been due to begin at the Central Criminal Court, sitting in Galway last Tuesday, but could not go ahead because of the absence of the accused who had been released from custody on bail pending the trial.

The judge ordered a news blackout on the reason why the trial was not proceeding on Tuesday and he issued a domestic Bench Warrant for her arrest in the absence of the jury panel.
