A woman in her 20s has been arrested as part of the investigation in a fire in Bray, Co Wicklow last year that claimed the lives of two firemen.

The woman was arrested by officers from Bray Garda station this morning and can be held for up to 24 hours before being charged or released.

Firemen Mark O'Shaughnessy (26) and Brian Murray (46), a father of 13, died when they became trapped inside a smoke-filled factory after its ceiling collapsed on September 26th, 2007. The Garda, the Health and Safety Authority and Wicklow County Council each launched investigations after the deaths.

Last month a man in his 40s was questioned in connection with the investigation. He was released without charge and a file was sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The families of the men who died appeared before an Oireachtas committee earlier this year and called for an independent investigation into the fire. They have privately engaged a Glasgow-based firm of fire investigators to carry out a report on the fire.
