Gardai in Kilmainham are investigating the discovery of an unconscious woman in a house on James Street in the city at approximately 9.40pm last night.
The scene has been preserved pending a technical examination.
The injured woman was taken to St James's Hospital where she remains in a critical condition this morning. A man has been arrested and is currently being detained at Kevin Street garda station
