A WOMAN had sex with a 14-year- old boy at a social gathering in her house, Tallaght Court has heard.

The 24-year-old woman allegedly first asked the boy for a kiss but he refused. She allegedly later brought him up to a bedroom and had full unprotected sex.

The woman, with an address in Tallaght, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, is charged with engaging in a sexual act with a child under 15 at her home on September 4th, 2010.

The woman was accompanied in court by her father.

Solicitor Domhnall Forde told the court that the DPP had directed trial on indictment but he added that he would consent to summary disposal on a plea of guilty.

Applying for legal aid, the woman’s solicitor, Pádraig O’Donovan, said her client’s husband was unemployed and they had four children. Judge McDonnell granted legal aid.

Garda Sgt Henry said it would be alleged that at a social gathering in the woman’s house, she asked him to go to the bedroom and they had full sex without protection for 10 minutes.

Garda Sgt Henry said it would be alleged that the boy went with the woman as she kept asking him.

She said the boy was a neighbour’s child. Judge McDonnell asked if there had been any problems since the alleged incident. Garda Sgt Henry said there had not.

The judge accepted jurisdiction.

He told the woman that if she decided to plead not guilty, the case would be dealt with in the Circuit Court.

Mr O’Donovan asked the judge to make an order for disclosure and to certify a psychiatric report for the woman under the legal aid scheme.

Granting both applications, Judge McDonnell remanded the woman on continuing bail to a date in November for mention.
