The Teachers' Union of Ireland (TUI) should withdraw a special information bulletin it has sent to its members, a group against the new national pay deal has stated.
The bulletin tells TUI members the new national pay deal will give teachers a cumulative pay rise of 29 per cent.
However, the Campaign Against the Partnership Deal said it was against the union's policy for the bulletin to be issued.
It said the TUI executive was not recommending the deal, so it was wrong to issue an official bulletin which suggested the deal should be supported by its members.
"The TUI has not lived up to the requirement to give special prominence to arguments for and against the deal," said Mr Eddie Conlon, a TUI executive member, who had led a campaign against the deal.
He added that equal space should be given in teachers' union publications to arguments for and against the deal.
