Christie's will hold a sale of the contents of Wentworth Woodhouse in England, property of the Wentworth family, on July 8th next. Thomas Wentworth, first Earl of Stafford, was appointed Lord Lieutenant of Ireland in 1640, and his properties included Coolattin House, in Co Wicklow.
Christie's said a pair of George III tables in the sale are almost certainly of Irish origin and were probably supplied to Coolattin. A copy of Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales, dating from the 15th century, is expected to fetch between £595,000 and £833,000.
