Dublin

Dublin

Roadworks continue to cause delays in Rathfarnham. Stocking Lane will be closed at the interface with Southern Cross Motorway until December 17th. Motorists are advised to use Edmondstown Road and the Mount Venus Road. Kellystown Road will close until September 27th for the construction of the new motorway bridge. Ticknock Road and Harold's Grange Road are alternate routes.

Major changes to traffic layout at M50 Firhouse junction to cause delays. Motorists should exercise extreme caution approaching the area. Clonskeagh Road will be reduced to one lane from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. between Eglinton Road and the bridge over the Dodder.

Queen Street reduced to oneway southbound until August 31st.

Bachelor's Quay closed between Devonshire West and Henry Street until mid-August. Tuckey Street closed for sewer-laying work.

Limerick

One-way traffic system for George's Quay, from Bridge Street to Mary Street only.

Laois

Bad delays of up to 45 minutes on N8 in Abbeyleix. Alternative route is Limerick Road from Portlaoise through Mountrath to Derrin Cross, turn left through Ballacolla, rejoining the N8 at Durrow.

Carlow

The N9 between Leighlinbridge and Royal Oak reduced to single-lane traffic. Dublin/ Waterford traffic should use the N78 via Athy and Castlecomer.

Wexford

Major disruption on the N25 between Carrigbyrne and Ballinaboola due to roadworks.

Donegal

The Donegal by-pass is now open to all traffic. Roadworks on the N15 between Ballybofey and Donegal at Barnsmore Gap.

Waterford

Large crowds to attend Tramore Races, and motorists should allow plenty of time for delays. A diversion at Sallypark into Waterford city will affect those approaching from Dublin and other points north. Motorists travelling from south Wexford are advised to take car ferry from Ballyhack to Passage East to avoid Ferrybank.

Travel

Iarnrod Eireann warns that few tickets remain for Sunday train from Waterford to Dublin for the hurling semi-final. Advance purchase necessary. All tickets on Limerick-Dublin train sold out.

Aer Rianta expects passenger numbers through Dublin Airport to exceed 184,000 this weekend. Passengers using airport should allow time to comply with airlines' check-in regulations.

Bus Eireann to run special buses to Curragh Races. Depart 1 1/2 hours before first race. Book in advance.

Road Deaths

Some 253 people have been killed in road accidents so far this year, with 13 deaths in the week to Wednesday night.
