A JUDGE yesterday issued bench warrants for the arrest of two women charged with running brothels in separate bedrooms of a hotel last Sunday.

Jodie Barrett (39) of Old Hall Street, Holborn, London, is charged with operating a brothel at Room 320 of the Manor West Hotel in Tralee on Sunday last, 31st October.

Allison Joyce (45) of Dolphin Road, Northolt, Middlesex, England, is charged with keeping a brothel at Room 322 of the Manor West Hotel in Tralee on the same date.

The alleged offences are contrary to the Sexual Offences Act 1993.

Arresting officers told Tralee District Court yesterday they arrested the women at 4.15pm in the hotel on the day in question and conveyed them to Tralee Garda station.

The women made no reply when charged after caution, gardaí told the court.

The women failed to appear in court , and Judge James O’Connor issued bench warrants for their arrest.

Insp Martin McCarthy told the court the hotel management had asked that the hotel’s name not be published in connection with the matter. Judge O’Connor refused the request, saying he had no power to make such an order.
