Transport consultant James Nix has been appointed to the board of Iarnród Éireann by Minister for Transport Leo Varadkar.
Based in Dublin, Mr Nix works for the European Climate Foundation specialising on law reforms for better transport policies and practices. Mr Nix is also co-ordinator for Irish Corporate Leaders on Climate Change.
Mr Nix was previously a member of the Green Party and also worked in property development. He is co-author with Irish Times environment editor Frank McDonald of Chaos at the Crossroads, a book chronicling development in Ireland during the economic boom.
