One of America's most famous radio programmes, presented by the writer and broadcaster Garrison Kielor, is to be broadcast on Dublin's Anna Livia radio station every Saturday afternoon starting today at noon. Keilor's two-hour Prairie Home Companion programme, comprises two hours of comedy and music and goes out on National Public Radio weekly.
Anna Livia, which transmits on 103.8 FM, was recently awarded a special interest licence by the Independent Radio and Television Commission and plans to broadcast 24 hours a day, seven days a week. At present it has a community radio licence with limited broadcasting hours. The station has an association with National Public Radio in the US. It broadcast a phone-in programme from the US with Senator George Mitchell following the signing of the Belfast Agreement.
Anna Livia also broadcasts Mountain Stage every Saturday at 7 p.m. Mountain Stage is produced by West Virginia Public Radio. It
has run for the past 13 years and is broadcast on 120 stations across the US.
Mountain Stage presents "intelligent, contemporary music, seasoned with traditional and roots performers".
