St Louis - The US balloonist Steve Fossett suffered problems yesterday threatening his non-stop trip around the globe, as winds blew him off course. A remote control that operates one of two burners keeping the Solo Spirit aloft malfunctioned, forcing him to open a hatch and turn it on and off manually.
Also, the heater in the gondola was not working properly and Fossett (53) said he felt cold as he drifted eastward in light winds about 20,000 ft above Bulgaria.
