Britain's Defence Secretary, Mr Geoff Hoon has defended the use of giant Daisy Cutter bombs as "appropriate" weapons for bringing more pressure on the Taliban. Mr Hoon dismissed suggestions that using the bombs would cause "outrage" if the war continued for a long time, stressing the bombs were being used only against military targets. "These weapons are not being used against the civilian population of Afghanistan," he said.
