GARDAÍ HAVE arrested two people following the discovery of some €160,000 worth of cannabis at a grow-house in Co Laois.
A man in his 50s and a woman in her 30s were being questioned at Portlaoise Garda station yesterday following the seizure on Wednesday night.
Supt Philip Lyons said the pair were arrested at a rural house about three miles from Portarlington at 10.30pm on Wednesday. Acting on intelligence, gardaí from Portarlington, assisted by the Garda Regional Support Unit, discovered “400 plants of growing cannabis and also a large quantity of harvested cannabis” at the house, according to Supt Lyons.
The man and woman, who are foreign nationals, were arrested at the property, which had been stocked with plant food and equipped with specialist lighting.
