A woman in her early 50s died in a multi-vehicle collision at Bohola, Co Mayo on the N5 Castlebar to Swinford Road.

The deceased woman was understood to have been the driver of a car which crashed before 6pm yesterday. Up to four vehicles were involved in the crash. At least three other people were taken to hospital with injuries.

The road was closed following the crash as gardaí investigated and it was expected to remain closed for the rest of the evening.

A man was killed in a two vehicle collision at Kildimo, Co Limerick on the N69 Limerick to Kerry Road at about 6pm yesterday.

At least one other person was injured and was taken to hospital as a result of the crash. The road was closed last night pending a Garda technical investigation.

Meanwhile a man died in hospital yesterday after being injured in an incident while working in Co Clare.

The premises had been rebuilt following an explosion there almost five years ago.

The 26-year-old electrician from Peterswell, Gort in Co Galway was working at the site in Lahinch when he fell from a step ladder on Wednesday evening.

The man sustained a serious head injury and died in hospital yesterday afternoon .
