A woman in her 30s was killed in a three-car collision yesterday morning on the main Cork-Mallow Road at Rathduff near Blarney. Ms Ann O'Keeffe (33), mother of one, who lived locally at Grenagh near Rathduff, was driving towards Cork. The other two vehicles are believed to have been coming from Cork. Ms O'Keeffe's husband Eugene was killed in a traffic accident on the old Cork-Mallow road six years ago.
Fire crews had to use cutting equipment to free the injured. The two other drivers, both women, were last night described as comfortable in Cork University Hospital.
In Co Donegal, a middle-aged woman was killed when she was knocked down by a car at Strath's Bridge near Carndonagh just before 7 p.m. yesterday.
