A man and a woman have died in separate single-car crashes in Counties Kilkenny and Cavan.
The woman (40) died some time between 6pm yesterday and 7am today when her car hit a bridge in Ricehill, Crosdoney, Co Cavan.
The Crossdoney to Cavan Road was closed for forensic examination and diversions were put in place through Ballinagh. Gardaí have asked witnesses contact Cavan Garda Station on 049-4368800.
A 69-year-old man died in a crash in Co Kilkenny when his car hit a ditch in Tullaroan, west of the city, just after 11pm last night.
Gardaí said the road at Tullaroan remained closed this morning while a technical examination was carried out.
A total of 208 people have died on the State's roads this year up to last Friday, according to Garda figures. In the same period last year, some 236 people were killed.
