Gardaí in Co Kerry have arrested two women in connection with withholding information about a serious daylight assault in Tralee which left a young man on a life-support machine.

The women, one in her late 30s, the other in her late 20s, were arrested early yesterday under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act and were being held separately in Tralee and Listowel Garda stations.

Tralee man Michael Quinn (21), suffered serious injuries on March 22nd last when he was attacked by a man at Brewery Road near Tralee town centre. He was kicked in the head and body and is still recovering.

A strongly built, dark-clothed tall male attacker was seen running from the area.

Gardaí in Tralee yesterday again asked anyone with information to contact them. The women can be held for an initial 24-hour period, which may be extended.
