Gardai  have arrested two people in connection with the investigation into  the fatal stabbing of a man in Drogheda last Tuesday.

A man and a woman were arrested last night in the Arklow area and have been detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Arklow and Wicklow garda stations.

They are both in their 30s.

Preliminary post-mortem results released last night indicated that 25-year-old Clint Wall, with an address at Marsh road, Drogheda, died from a stab wound received during an attack in the town in the early hours of last Tuesday.

Originally from Shankill, Co Dublin, Mr Wall was found lying by the roadside at Marsh Road at 3.30 a.m. on Tuesday. He was bleeding heavily.

He was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in the town where he died at 11 a.m. yesterday.
