Police arrested two men aged in their 20s during a raid on two houses this morning.

They are being questioned at Monaghan Garda station under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.

Meanwhile three people appeared in court in Carrick on Shannon last night charged in connection with the discovery of cannabis growing factories in counties Longford and Roscommon earlier this week.

The three were charged with cultivating cannabis plants without a licence under the Misuse of Drugs Act and were also charged with failing to produce a valid passport or equivalent documentation.
