A review of safety at Ballymoney's Drumaheglis marina complex in Co Antrim is under consideration after two young men drowned at the weekend. Mr Colin Kitchener (14) and Mr Charles McCausland (29), both from nearby Coleraine, died after they fell into the River Bann on Sunday afternoon.

The deaths have cast a shadow over the council-run marina, which attracts more than 40,000 visitors each year. A water sports demonstration planned for the marina later this week has been postponed as a mark of respect. The council's chief executive, Mr John Dempsey, said strict safety precautions were already in place, but "after the police findings are known, the council may take the decision to review the operation at Drumaheglis to ascertain if further improvements can be made".

North Antrim Assembly member Mr James Leslie suggested further safety measures should be considered to lessen the risk of future tragedy.
