Two people have been charged at Dublin District court with handling stolen property to the value of €18.5 million.

Ms Noeleen Douglas (45) and her husband, Mr Thomas Douglas (52) were each charged with handling stolen paintings at their home on Deansrath Road in Clondalkin yesterday.

The charges follow the recovery of five paintings, including two Rubens, stolen from the Beit Collection at Russborough House in Co Wicklow three months ago.

The two were remanded in custody with consent to bail and are due before Dublin District Court again on Monday.
