Two Chinese men have been remanded in custody after appearing in court over an attack in which two gardaí were stabbed in a house in Raheny, north Dublin on Wednesday.

Xaing Cheng (23) and Qian Cheng (25), both of no fixed address, were charged under the Theft Act with stealing property from the house at Main Street, Raheny .

Qian Cheng was also charged with not having identity papers.

Dublin District Court heard they were arrested on Thursday evening and after they were charged, both made no reply. There was no application for bail for either of the accused.

The men were remanded in custody to appear in Cloverhill District Court on July 22nd.

Free legal aid was granted, and interpreters were certified for court appearances.
