With crowds of 45,000 expected around St Stephen’s Green for the 8pm fireworks display, organisers are urging spectators to arrive by 7.15pm. The park itself will remain closed and viewing will be from St Stephen’s Green North, South, East and West which will close to traffic from 4pm until 9.30pm.

Luas services will stop at Harcourt Street for the duration of the fireworks display.

Those attending the preceding Procession of Light which starts at the Tourist Information Office on Suffolk Street at 6.30pm and finishes at the main gates of St Stephen’s Green at 7.45pm are also advised to get there early.

Some 12,000 people are expected at the 9pm ticket-only concert at College Green. A first aid tent will be located beside the stage on College Green with temporary toilets on College Green beside the Bank of Ireland.

The event has an alcohol licence and organisers say there will be a Garda presence and private security at the festival to ensure the safety of those attending.

Gardaí say they are liaising with event organisers and have an operational plan in place to deal with the crowds.

College Green and Dame Street from South Great George’s Street to College Green will be closed from 4pm today until 8am tomorrow.

Weather tonight is expected to be mostly dry and cold with moderate winds.

Dublin Bus is advising customers that the last departures tonight will be at 10pm, with exceptions listed on its website.

Dart services will cease at 9 pm. Night Luas trams will run on the Luas Green Line from St Stephen’s Green to Brides Glen at 1am, 1.30am, 2am, 2.30am, 3am and 3.30am.
