Long regarded among his peers as Ireland's Master Uilleann Piper, Liam O'Flynn (left) has journeyed from Planxty to the BBC Proms and beyond. The Co. Kildare piper and his band play with a combination of emotion and precision, which dovetails into as fine an example of traditional music as you'll probably hear. "When I'm playing," O'Flynn once said, "I'm certainly lost within it. The only way to describe it is that it's like looking inwards."

Prior to a short Irish tour that includes dates at Wexford, Cork, Dingle and Kilkenny, Liam O'Flynn & The Piper's Call Band play the NCH next Thursday.
