Tourism and business interests in the west have welcomed the start of a new regular flight service today between Knock and Germany.

The German carrier Lufthansa is expected to bring more than 2,000 visitors to the west over the summer on the weekly schedule, which starts today between Knock airport and Dusseldorf in a move that is worth an estimated €1 million to the region.

Lufthansa, listed as Europe’s biggest and the world’s fourth-largest airline in terms of the number of passengers carried, will continue the flights each Saturday until next September.
