Three young people escaped injury when a shot was fired at the front door of their home in Cloughmills in Co Antrim just before midnight.

The two boys and girl aged between 11 and 18 years were on their own in the house and were asleep upstairs.

An RUC spokeswoman said a vehicle was heard driving away from the house in Cypress Park shortly after the gun blast and a car was later found burned out in the Drumtara Estate in Ballymena.

Police have not ruled out a link between the two incidents.

Meanwhile the RUC has ruled out a sectarian motive for apetrol bomb attack on a pub in Ballymena in Co Antrim early today, and said it was following a definite line of inquiry.

The petrol bomb was thrown at the Imperial Bar in Wellington Street at around 5 a.m.

An RUC spokesman said the pub sustained scorch damage but there were no injuries.
