THREE MEN appeared before Tralee District Court yesterday in connection with an alleged feud in the town and a fourth man was further remanded in custody.
Earlier this week Tralee’s Garda Supt Pat Sullivan said he had called in the armed regional response unit to patrol the streets of the town to prevent an escalation of an alleged feud after receiving intelligence.
Armed gardaí patrolled the streets of Tralee over three nights at the weekend and slash hooks, pick-axe handles and knives were seized.
At Tralee District Court yesterday Paddy Quilligan (28), Rath Oraigh, Tralee, appeared on two charges relating to May 9th last at Killeen Road, Oakpark Tralee. He was charged with damaging the window of a car belonging to Robert Coffey and he was also charged with producing a slash hook.
Jimmy Quilligan (24), Mitchel’s Road, Tralee, appeared on a charge of damaging a car belonging to Nora Coffey on May 8th at Oak Park, Tralee, and he was also charged with producing a pick-axe handle on the same date.
A third man John Casey (26), Mitchel’s Crescent, Tralee appeared yesterday charged with producing a pick-axe handle in the course of a dispute at Oak Park, Tralee on May 8th last.
Judge James O’Connor remanded all three in custody to appear before Killarney District Court on Tuesday next.
