Three men have been injured in violent incidents in the North overnight.

A man was attacked in the Rathcoole estate area of north Belfast in a paramilitary style attack. A PSNI spokesman said the victim was abducted in Derrycoole Way and taken to a pathway behind Ballyronan Park where he was beaten on the arms and legs.

Three masked men carried out the attack using baseball bats. The man received injuries to his legs and arms.

Earlier in west Belfast, a man was shot in Ballymurphy. He was found injured at Whitecliff Parade and taken to hospital.

Meanwhile in Coleraine, Co Derry three masked men shot a man in the leg after bursting into his house in Laughanhill Park at 10.10 p.m.

The gang then left the scene in a white Peugeot 309.
