Gardaí investigating the fatal shooting of a man in Limerick earlier this week have freed a man and an elderly couple without charge.

A man (20) was arrested shortly after Gary Grant (25) was shot dead yards from his home on St Ita's Street in St Mary's Park on Monday night.

A man (81) and his wife, who is in her mid-70s, were arrested on Tuesday night after a semi-automatic handgun and a magazine containing several bullets were discovered during follow-up searches in the St Mary's Park area.

All three were freed overnight.
