Three men were charged today with the murder of a man who was stabbed to death in Co Antrim last weekend.

The men - aged 20, 21 and 23 -are due to appear in court later charged with the murder of Darren Roberts in Lisburn. He was attacked in the city’s Millbrook Road at around 2am on Saturday morning by a gang of men and died a short time later in hospital.

The 20-year-old victim had been looking forward to becoming a father for the first time.

One of the accused, the 20-year-old, was also charged with the assault of an 18-year-old who was also stabbed and injured in the incident.

Meanwhile, police said a 20-year-old man arrested yesterday for questioning about the murder of Catholic community worker Kevin McDaid in Coleraine, Co Derry, last month had been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Mr McDaid was beaten to death by a large group of loyalists who stormed into a mainly Catholic area after Rangers beat Celtic to the Scottish Premiership title.

Nine men have so far been charged in connection with the killing, six of them with murder.
