At least 30 people have been killed and 30 others injured when two buses collided at Jhopgari on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway, said a police officer at Bogra, 230 km (144 miles) north of the capital, Dhaka.

"Two more succumbed later", he said in an updated statement.

The death toll might rise as some of the injured were in a critical condition at a nearby hospital, he added.
